With roots dating back to 1991, Red Shell Sushi has been a pioneer in the American sushi industry for over three decades. We proudly serve California’s most distinguished upscale retailers, leading the way as one of the nation’s most eco-conscious sushi companies.

At Red Shell our mission is to take retail sushi back to its origin, quality and glory when it was first introduced in the United States.

When supermarket sushi was introduced in the 1990’s, it was a ‘niche ‘product crafted by talented chefs who took pride in its heritage, authenticity, premium ingredients and excitement in preparation.

Over the next two decades sushi’s popularity has morphed it into a ‘commodity’ and you can find it in supermarkets everywhere. With this expansion, sushi has declined in quality, consistency and innovation in most retail points of distribution.

Originally, sushi companies hired talented chefs and had tight control over their operations. Today, most sushi companies service the retail industry franchise their operations. This has resulted in difficulty maintaining the consistency, quality and customer service that clients expect.

Red Shell is taking sushi back to its roots, back its rich ‘niche’ standards. At Red Shell, we work with the employee model. We hire and thoroughly train our chefs to execute our standards and reward them with great wages and benefits.
